And the oscar goes to...

European cinema has been rewarded at the Oscars ceremony.

The very beautiful and talented French actress Marion Cotillard won the Oscar of the best actress. I've not seen yet the movie "la Môme" (entitled "la vie en rose" in English) which is about the life and carreer of the famous French singer Edith Piaf, but all that I've seen has convinced me of Cotillard's talent and it is great that the Oscar Academy recognized it (it is the first Oscar for a French actress in a French-speaking role!). Here you can listen to her words when receiving the Oscar. And it is a misconception to think that all French people can't speak English (or with an awful accent :-D) : see this interview by NY Times, isn't she charming ;-)

I'm also very glad that Javier Bardem got an Oscar. He's not very well known out of Spain, except maybe for his role in "Mar Adentro". But it may change : he is one of the best Spanish actors currently and he's now beginning an international carreer. I remember that with my friends from the Master, we had dinner in a restaurant of Madrid at a table just next to his :-D
